Plot

In the secluded corners of a correctional colony, a group of pint-sized inhabitants, weary of the oppressive rules demanding their good behavior, ignite a rebellion against the established order. Their charismatic leader, who shares their diminutive stature, takes shelter in a nearby building, awaiting the inevitable arrival of law enforcement. In the interim, these spirited rebels engage in a whirlwind of anarchic activities, relishing their newfound freedom. They create a symphony of destruction with dishes and glasses, pilot a car into ruin, and engage in cruel mockery of their blind fellows, among other chaotic deeds. This riotous uprising, while at times comical, gradually reveals a disconcerting underbelly, as the liberation of these small rebels unveils both the admirable and the disturbing facets of the human spirit. The film serves as an allegory on the complex implications of total freedom, demonstrating how a merited uprising can empower yet also descend into chaos and moral decay. Even Dwarfs Started Small (1970) explores this nuanced narrative through an unconventional cast comprised entirely of dwarfs. The film masterfully uses this unique casting approach to further its allegory, underscoring the paradoxical nature of liberation and rebellion. This raw and thought-provoking film challenges viewers to question the boundaries of freedom and the inherent duality of human nature.
