On a snow-kissed Christmas Eve of 2004, we find Eve Simon, a successful yet desolate advertising executive in the bustling heart of Madison Avenue. Wealth and prestige abound, but her personal life is a barren landscape. Aside from her assistant and childhood friend, Mandy, and her married boss-cum-lover, Neil, her world is void of significant connections. Her family, a beacon of warmth and support from Eastborough, Oregon, has been estranged ever since she left eight years prior. The holiday season intensifies her solitude as Neil chooses to spend Christmas with his family, leaving Eve alone. This prompts a melancholic reflection on a pivotal decision she made eight years ago: to spurn her wedding to her then-fiancé, Scott Gustafson, and accept an enticing internship in New York.
