Plot

In the gripping tale of Ethan Mao, an 18-year-old cast off from his tranquil suburban life by his father for his homosexuality, a revelation exploited by his scheming stepmother, Ethan is thrown into the harsh realities of the street. He ekes out an existence as a hustler, trading intimacy for survival with older men. Fate intertwines him with Remigio, a 19-year-old drug dealer and fellow hustler who becomes Ethan's unlikely ally amidst the chaos of street life. When Ethan's younger brother reveals a family day trip planned for Thanksgiving, Ethan sees an opportunity to retrieve treasured possessions and a sentimental necklace that once belonged to his late mother. With Remigio's aid, they infiltrate the family home, only to find themselves ensnared in a dangerous situation when they're discovered. Driven by desperation, they take his father, stepmother, and antagonistic stepbrother hostage, setting the stage for an intense drama. As the hours wear on, the confines of the family home become a crucible for escalating tensions. Ethan, Remigio, and his family are forced to face their simmering conflicts and buried resentments. As the pressure mounts, hidden demons surface and family secrets unravel, creating a web of suspense and desperation. Ethan Mao is a taut exploration of the human spirit and the lengths one will go to when everything they hold dear is at stake.
