In the disquieting aftermath of the American Civil War in 1866, the desolate expanses of Texan countryside serve as the backdrop to a simmering feud between two neighboring families. The Rileys, a humble family of trappers, scrape out a living selling animal pelts, while the downtrodden McCluskeys, stripped of their once thriving cattle business by the war, resort to pilfering from the Rileys' traps.
Into this precarious balance steps Wade, a beloved uncle to the Riley children, and a scarred veteran seeking solace from the harrowing specters of war. Upon discovering the underhanded activities of the McCluskeys, Wade's warrior spirit is rekindled. Determined to defend his family's honor, he embarks on a mission to cease the theft.
