In the peculiar tapestry of life, the paths of an eccentric aging scientist and an audacious teenager, who idolizes Michael Jackson, are about to intertwine in a surreal, supernatural fashion. Coleman Ettinger, a man drawn to the realm of dreams and reality's blurred lines, crosses paths with Bobby Keller, a young man hopelessly infatuated with Lainie Diamond — the elusive girlfriend of his high school's resident heartthrob, Joel. In his quest to shatter the boundaries of reality, Coleman convinces his wife, Gena, to participate in his daring experiments. Simultaneously, Bobby navigates the complex maze of teenage life, grappling with his yearning for Lainie. An unexpected mishap during an experiment shrouds their physical forms from existence, causing a paradoxical swap. Coleman's consciousness finds a new home in Bobby's body, while Gena's essence is mysteriously tucked away in Lainie's, only accessible during sleep. Trapped in a bewildering limbo, the only connection between Coleman and Bobby is through the ethereal world of dreams. Coleman appeals to Bobby for assistance in restoring order, but the teenager is oddly content in this dreamlike state, preferring it to the trials and tribulations of his adolescent life.
