Plot

In the rhythmic world of Disco (2008), we meet Didier Travolta (Franck Dubosc), a 40-year-old disco enthusiast marooned in joblessness and living under his mother's roof in the French port city of Le Havre. His only connection to the outside world is his son in Britain, whom he hasn't seen in a while. When the boy's mother stipulates a real vacation as a condition for his visit, the cash-strapped Didier finds himself in a bind. An unlikely lifeline appears when his old pal Jackson (Gérard Depardieu) announces a dance contest with a tantalizing prize - a trip for two to Australia. Seizing this chance, Didier rallies his former dance partners (Samuel Le Bihan and Abbes Zahmani) to resurrect their once-legendary troupe, the "Bee Kings". However, the march of time has left its mark. They are no longer the spry young men they once were, and the dancefloor is a different arena now. They enlist the help of a dance coach (Emmanuelle Béart) to whip them back into shape, but soon realize that reclaiming their disco crown won't be a simple two-step. Amidst the whirlwind of jobs, wives, love affairs, and outmoded fashion, they must contend with a new generation of talented dancers. Disco (2008) is a vibrant dance through time and personal growth, filled with laughter, heartbreak, and the irresistible beat of disco. Will the Bee Kings reclaim their throne, or will they find that their time in the disco limelight has truly come to an end?
