Beneath the glimmering lights of New York City, inside the bustling, beloved Italian bistro owned by bookmaker Louis Cropa, a storm brews on an evening that is anything but ordinary. The restaurant’s doors open to an eclectic ensemble of guests tonight: an invited local police detective and his wife, a pair of rival bookmakers from Queens with ambitious plans to become partners, and the notoriously demanding food critic known only as 'the food nymph.' Hidden amidst the commotion at the bar is the unassuming Ken.
