Plot

Paula, a diligent inspector for the Historic Trust, concludes a demanding yet rewarding project in the heart of the upper Midwest. Eager to return to her Chicago home, her journey is abruptly interrupted by a call from her office. They need her to evaluate a new applicant, a task conveniently aligned with her current route. Although it's late on a Friday, her dedication compels her to detour towards the site - a once majestic steamship languishing on an industrial waterfront. The colossal 400-foot vessel stands as a dark silhouette against the sky, its stagnant water encircling the pier teeming with lifeless fish. Upon arrival, Paula's life takes a drastic turn; her car malfunctions, stranding her in this eerie setting. Amid the ensuing chaos, she crosses paths with the ship's eccentric self-proclaimed caretaker, Vigs. Faced with limited options, she reluctantly accepts his offer to spend the night in one of the ship's claustrophobic yet historic staterooms. A dinner invitation from Vigs, consisting of poorly cooked food and subpar beer, leaves her feeling unwell. She retreats to her room hoping for rest, only to be incessantly disturbed by a series of alarming noises echoing from the ship's darkest corners. Compelled by these mysterious sounds, Paula embarks on an unsettling exploration of the ship. In the climax, she uncovers a profound truth about herself, leading to an irreversible transformation in her life.
