In the heart of Russia, Marina Leonova, a linguistics scholar with a mystical inclination, finds herself torn between her love for her boyfriend Artur and the sting of his betrayal with their classmate, Vika. When their intriguing Professor Sergey Rudolfovich leads the class on a field trip to the countryside, they seek to uncover secrets hidden within mystical sites. An unexpected encounter with an enigmatic elderly woman in the forest sets their fate, inviting them for a seemingly innocent meal.
As the rest indulge, Marina, the outsider, lingers by the lake where an unsuspecting Artur finds her. Amid their intimate exchange, their friends intrude, causing a mortified Marina to escape into the depths of the forest. Kostya, harbouring an unspoken affection for Marina, follows her into the dense woods where they stumble upon an eerily abandoned house.
In the house, Marina discovers the preserved remains of a witch clutching a shield. Overcome by an unseen force, she faints, only to be found later by Sergey and his students. As they call for a rescue team, an intimidating helicopter squad arrives, unveiling a startling revelation. The men work for the Minister of Mining, Aleksandr, who is the descendant of Ylto Vallo, a potent sorcerer slain centuries ago by the Witch Queen.
Aleksandr yearns to reclaim his father's power, a magic spell trapped within the shield. Unbeknownst to him, Marina herself is a witch and she stands as the only barrier between Aleksandr and the immense power he craves.
