Plot

In the heart of the secluded Maiden Woods, a heavy veil of dread descends as a malevolent force stirs within the forest's shadowy confines. The town's sheriff, Paul Shields, finds himself grappling with the chilling enigma while also wrestling with his own personal demons. His life, marred by a tragic accident that claimed his son Tim's life, is on the brink of further collapse as his marriage to Susan teeters on the edge of divorce. Their surviving son, Adam, yearns for a reunited family, unaware of the dark cloud looming over their lives. As the town's protector, Sheriff Shields, alongside his partner Donny Saunders, a newcomer from the bustling city of New York, is drawn into a confounding mystery. A local horse breeder reports a missing horse, initially dismissed as a simple case of a forgotten gate. However, the discovery of eerie footprints soon shatters this theory, hinting at a more sinister truth. The townsfolk's initial skepticism morphs into palpable fear as the ghastly evidence piles up, pointing towards the ancient legend of the Wendigo. As the situation escalates, Shields reaches out to the National Guard. But with a storm brewing on the horizon, outside help seems a distant hope. Amidst the swirling chaos, Shields and Saunders find themselves as the last line of defense, caught in a desperate race against time to shield the inhabitants from the encroaching evil. Dark Was the Night paints an intense tableau of a small town's struggle against a looming supernatural threat and a man's battle against his haunting past.
