Curtains (1983)

In the shadowy world of cinema, renowned director Jonathan Stryker and his trusted collaborator, actress Samantha Sherwood, embark on a chilling venture - a film titled "Audra." Samantha, convinced she's secured the titular role, agrees to Stryker's peculiar request for method acting: immersing herself in the life of Audra, a former psychiatric patient, by committing herself to an asylum. Little does she know, Stryker's intentions are far more sinister, intending to abandon her indefinitely while seeking fresh faces for the role. Six ambitious women from various walks of life are summoned to a haunting old mansion for auditions, their dreams of stardom blinding them to the ominous atmosphere. But when these hopeful actresses start vanishing one by one, fear seeps into the mansion's decaying walls. Samantha, escaping the confines of the asylum, returns to the mansion only to find herself in a web of suspicion and dread. But who is the puppeteer behind this macabre mask of an old hag, pulling the strings of this deadly game? Is it the betrayed Samantha, the duplicitous Stryker, or is one of the actresses so desperate to shine that they're willing to kill for it? This twisted tale of ambition, betrayal, and horror keeps you guessing until the final curtain falls.
