Plot

In the year 1536, amidst the fervor of the Inquisition in Veracruz, Mexico, an alchemist fashions an intricate golden device known as Cronos. Shrouded in mystery, this device is designed to offer its possessor the elusive gift of eternal life. As centuries roll by, the Cronos device outlives its enigmatic creator, lying dormant within an ancient statue until the year 1997. In the bustling present, an antiquities dealer named Jesus Gris, alongside his curious granddaughter Aurora, stumbles upon this artifact. As they clean the statue, the device is unintentionally activated. Gris, oblivious to the device's true power, begins to notice a peculiar rejuvenation in his appearance, a fountain of youth flowing from the golden mechanism. However, the Cronos device is not lost to history as Gris might have hoped. The enigmatic Angel de la Guardia, acting on behalf of his ailing millionaire uncle, De la Guardia, enters Gris's shop under the guise of an ordinary customer. With a hunger for the eternal life promised by Cronos, De la Guardia has been relentlessly seeking the device, his obsession undimmed by time. After a seemingly innocuous transaction, Gris's shop is vandalized, leaving only the calling card of Angel de la Guardia amidst the wreckage. This card leads Gris into the spider's web of the De la Guardia family, who reveal the true nature and the tantalizing promise of the Cronos device. As Gris becomes entangled in their desperate quest for immortality, he is hunted, ensnaring him in a deadly game where the stake is the gift and curse of eternal life.
