Plot

In the quiet confines of a small town, Ingeborg, an aging piano teacher, nurtures her foster daughter, Nelly, into the threshold of womanhood. The tranquility of their existence shatters with the sudden appearance of Jenny, Nelly's biological mother, flamboyantly emerging from the bustling city's shadows. Cloaked under the guise of "Auntie," Jenny presents Nelly with a dazzling invitation to the city's shimmering lights, promising her a life as a beautician in her own salon. This sudden revelation leaves Ingeborg, precariously perched on the edge of a life-threatening illness, grappling with a devastating sense of impending loss. Amidst this emotional turmoil, Ulf, a stoic man in his thirties, harbors a silent love for Nelly. He pleads with her to reconsider her departure, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Nelly, an innocent eighteen-year-old, perceives Ulf as too seasoned by life's harsh realities, finding herself instead drawn to the mystique of Jack, a new face in town. Unbeknownst to Nelly, this charismatic stranger with his striped suit and debonair mustache is entangled in a clandestine affair with her mother. As Nelly steps onto the path leading away from her sheltered life, she stumbles into a labyrinth of human nature's darker shades. Her journey takes her from the simplicity of her small-town home to the complex realities of Stockholm, where glitz and glamour shroud an underbelly of hidden secrets and unspoken truths.
