Plot

In the throes of a creative drought, New York playwright Ben finds himself accepting a retreat invitation from his friend Kevin to a tranquil Connecticut harbor town. In this idyllic setting, he crosses paths with Donavan, a spirited and yet struggling coffee shop owner and Kevin's sister-in-law. When Ben, an innocent tea-drinker, becomes the recipient of Donavan's sharp rebuke, he is intrigued rather than offended, and an unexpected bond begins to brew between them. Donavan's quaint coffee shop, a victim of her own business inexperience, stands on the precipice of foreclosure, the local bank having succumbed to a corporate takeover. With only three days to salvage her beloved business, Donavan's past returns with a tantalizing proposition. Her ex-lover, who once left town for grander aspirations, reappears with a lucrative deal that could save her shop, but at the cost of selling out to a mall developer. Donavan, an idealist to her core, rebuffs this offer, preferring to preserve the shop's warm, sociable atmosphere for her loyal customers rather than surrender to commercial pressures. Despite receiving yet another brusque dismissal from the fiery barista, Ben finds himself pulled into the fray, ready to champion Donavan's cause. This delightful tale of friendship, love, and the courage to stand up for what matters is a testament to the power of community and the resilience of the human spirit.
