Plot

In the drab universe of the Global Credit Association, Iris, a demure wallflower, embarks upon her first day as a temporary employee. Her initiation to corporate life begins with a two-hour wait in a chair, hinting at the (mis)adventures that lie ahead in the labyrinth of office cubicles. Iris soon befriends Margaret, the deft navigator of the temp world, and the duo quickly becomes a quartet with the inclusion of Paula and Jane, fellow "corporate orphans". Untangling threads of boredom and monotony, the group seeks solace in their shared circumstances, devising subtle means to chip away at the weight of corporate oppression. After-work drinks and the hunt for potential dates become their refuge, a sanctuary from the grey sterility of their day jobs. However, a tremor disrupts their fragile camaraderie when Cleo, the new permanent hire, steps onto the scene. Alongside her arrival, the office descends into a wary chaos as a string of thefts occur. The temp quartet finds themselves on the defensive against not only the suspicious full-time staff but also the creeping doubts within their own ranks, marking a stark shift in their once predictable daily grind. In the sterile landscape of the corporate world, Clockwatchers is a tale of friendship, suspicion, and survival in the face of the everyday ennui.
