Plot

In his final stretch of law school, affluent and aristocratic Whitt Sheffield (Justin Bruening) is handed an unconventional assignment by his professor. Tasked to serve as an advocate for Kylie Burch (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), a struggling single mother in search of stable employment, Whitt finds himself at odds with his prestigious lineage. His father, an influential corporate lawyer, has lofty expectations for Whitt, making the assignment seem like a demeaning detour. Upon meeting Kylie, their worlds clash. Whitt's privileged perspective initially blinds him to the harsh realities of Kylie's life. This discordance threatens their progress and it seems unlikely that Whitt can truly assist Kylie without understanding her predicament. However, when an unexpected threat looms over Kylie and her son's future, Whitt is confronted with a stark revelation. The lines of class and circumstance blur, leading him to realize that he and Kylie might not be as dissimilar as he had once thought. This heartwarming tale explores the dynamics of societal classes, mutual understanding, and unexpected alliances, all under the umbrella of a law school assignment.
