City of Ember (2008)

A thrilling science fiction action story of the future in which mankind has taken to living underground because of a nuclear war. Called the City of Ember with an amazing setup of lights, it was only built to last 200 years after which it would be safe for people to resume life on Earth’s surface. However, the lights are failing and food is scarce, and no one knows where the plans for returning to the surface are. Two teenagers find the secret of the way out and have to battle treacherous politicians and other corrupt officials to lead the people to freedom.
