In the remote landscape of the Mongolian border, 1979, an unprecedented discovery is made. Nestled within the formidable mountains lie colossal fossils of creatures unknown. An illustrious team is assembled to unearth the remains, including the renowned Professor Yang (Wang Qingxiang), the brave Hu Bayi (Mark Chao), and the captivating Ping (Yao Chen), Yang's enchanting daughter. Their expedition, however, is abruptly disrupted by a disastrous explosion, a vicious bat assault, and a near-fatal plunge into the mountain's depths. From the ashes of calamity, a scant few survivors emerge, drawn to the heart of the mountain where they stumble upon an ancient Cyclopean Temple, and more ominously, an interdimensional portal. This gateway releases a horde of monstrous Hell-Beasts, leaving only Hu to tell the tale. Fast forward to present-day New York City, where Hu, now a librarian, leads a life of quiet torment, buried in demonology manuscripts, desperate to decipher the enigma of that fateful day. Unbeknownst to him, the echoes of the past are resonating louder than ever; Professor Yang is found alive in the distant mountains, far from his presumed death site; a young woman, her memory a blank slate, is discovered in a freshly exposed tomb; and a mining town in Northern China is being terrorized by gargantuan, unidentified creatures... The echoes of the past reverberate ominously, teetering on the brink of a revelation that could shake the very foundations of their understanding of the world.
