Plot

In 1857's Boston, a crowd gathers, hanging on the every word of the celebrated author, Dickens (voiced by Simon Callow). As he breathes life into his spectral tale, a woman's shriek slices the air - a mouse has been spotted! Smiling, Dickens reveals that our story begins with just such a creature. As his tale morphs into animated form, we meet Gabriel, a mouse imbued with a spark of hope, navigating the stark contrast between wealth and poverty in London's maze-like streets. Gabriel becomes a beacon for the younger audience, guiding them through the intricacies of this classic narrative. When faced with the ethereal and possibly terrifying figures – the Ghosts of Past (Jane Horrocks), Present (Sir Michael Gambon), and Future – Gabriel offers a comforting sanctuary. Thus, through the lens of a tiny mouse, the timeless tale of "A Christmas Carol" unfurls, resonating even more powerfully with its audience.
