Christmas Caper (2007)

Just days before the festive cheer of Christmas engulfs the world, New York's elusive cat burglar, Cate Dove, finds herself in a predicament. Betrayed by her partner and mentor, Clive Henry, after their latest audacious home invasion, Cate is exposed by a surveillance camera, leaving Clive to abscond with their targeted diamond. As the police scramble to identify the mysterious thief captured on tape, Cate knows it's time to disappear. In a twist of fate, a surprise request from her estranged sister, Savannah, provides the perfect sanctuary. Savannah and her husband Brian are stranded on vacation, desperate for a sitter for their two children. Oblivious to Cate's criminal life, the Coopers rely on her as their last resort, burdened by the challenging nature of their precocious adolescent daughter, Annie, and their trouble-prone teenage son, Parker. Cate returns to the small, tranquil town of Comfort, Connecticut, the backdrop of her childhood memories, and the place she fled immediately after high school. Here, she finds herself entangled in the lives of her young charges, an experience that slowly begins to rekindle the glow of Christmas spirit within her. In Comfort, past connections are reformed, including a spark with her high school sweetheart, Hank Harrison, who ironically now serves as the town sheriff. However, the tranquility of Comfort is threatened by her past life. Hank's discovery of Cate's criminal endeavors is imminent as she contemplates resuming her illicit activities to replace the lost diamond. Meanwhile, the vengeful Clive is hot on her trail, convinced she double-crossed him. As Cate navigates this complex web, she must not only outsmart Clive but also grapple with her growing affection for her family and the spirit of Christmas. Indeed, it is the magic of the holiday season that might just realign her priorities, leading her away from her life of crime.
