China Girl (1987)

Set against the gritty backdrop of 1980s New York City, young Anthony "Tony" finds himself caught in the cultural crossfire of Little Italy and Chinatown. By day, he moulds pizza dough in a humble pizzeria, but by night, he's drawn to the intoxicating allure of nightclubs, where he encounters the enchanting Tye, a Chinese teenager with an irresistible charm. Their worlds collide in a dance, but their connection is abruptly severed by Tsu Shin's Chinese gang. Tony's world is further complicated by the protective presence of his older brother, Alberto "Alby," the head of an Italian gang. When Tsu Shin audaciously orchestrates a bombing at a Chinese restaurant in Little Italy, he incites not just the fury of Alby, but also that of the formidable Mr. Gung Tu, the overlord of the Chinese mafia, and Tye's brother, Yung Gan, the true leader of Tsu Shin's gang. As tensions mount, Alby and his loyal lieutenant, Mercury, plot their retaliation in Chinatown, despite stern warnings from Italian mobster Enrico Perito to honor the unspoken boundaries of their territories. Amidst this escalating warfare, a forbidden romance blossoms between Tony and Tye, a clandestine affair that risks plunging them deeper into the heart of the conflict, setting the stage for a tragic tale of love, loyalty, and loss.
