Plot

In the heart of an idyllic suburban landscape, eight-year-old Bobby Carter is blissfully cocooned in the warmth of her parents' love. She cherishes the affection of Ray and Joan Carter, her parents, who she believes are the embodiment of marital happiness. However, unbeknownst to her, Joan has found solace in the arms of Michael Benton, her clandestine love, a consequence of the loneliness that engulfs her during Ray's frequent business absences. Bobby's innocent world shatters when she stumbles upon her mother and the stranger, Michael, interlocked in a kiss in the park, a sight witnessed along with her friends. Initially, she denies the harsh reality, but the truth becomes inescapable when her parents decide to divorce. In the aftermath, Joan hastily marries Michael, and the courts split custody between Joan and Ray, with the latter retaining the family home. Bobby is thrown into a whirlwind of change where she despises Michael, accuses her mother, and perceives her father as an innocent victim. Being the child of divorce, she is compelled to adapt to her new life, living with her mother for eight months and her father for the remaining four. The fragmented living conditions take a toll on Bobby's mental and physical health, as the repercussions of her parents' decisions weigh heavily on her young shoulders. Navigating through a world of adult complexities and shifting loyalties, Bobby discovers that the roles of the adults and her place in their lives are not as straightforward as she initially thought. As she grapples with her new reality, Bobby's story is an exploration of the profound impact of parental discord on a child's world.
