In the enigmatic realm of Lemuria, the insidious cult of Ubasti covets the Egyptian Princess Nadji, their targeted sacrifice to revive their goddess Ossana, whose spirit is trapped within Nadji's mortal form. Nadji, sheltering in the distant Eastern port of Suva, is protected by the White Magic wielded by Frank Chandler, an American enlightened by Eastern mysticism, also known by his mystical persona, Chandu. However, when Chandu embarks on a solitary voyage, the menacing Voice of Ubasti seizes the opportunity to spirit Nadji away to Lemuria, a land where Black Magic holds unchallenged dominion. In response, Chandu commences a desperate rescue mission, accompanied by his sister Dorothy, and his niece and nephew, Betty and Bob. But fate deals them a cruel hand as they are shipwrecked on the enchanted island, and they find themselves ensnared in a treacherous plot, destined for sacrifice. Chandu, in his quest to rescue his family, descends into a seemingly infinite labyrinth of caverns beneath the sinister temple. There, he finds himself in a perilous battle of wits and wills, his physical prowess and magical abilities challenged to their limits, in an environment where they appear to serve no purpose...
