Plot

In the vibrant spring of 1518, Spain is home to a nobleman with a heart of gold, Pedro de Vargas. When Pedro aids an Indian slave, Coatl, and his friend escape the ruthless Diego de Silva, he unknowingly sets a chain of events in motion. Their paths cross again when he rescues spirited Catana Perez, a plebeian maid working at an inn, from the clutches of de Silva's men and befriends the fortune-blessed Juan Garcia, a humble man who made his riches in Cuba. However, this rebellion against de Silva's tyranny doesn't come without a price. Returning home, Pedro finds his world upturned as de Silva, wielding his political influence, brands Pedro and his family heretics, resulting in their imprisonment. The cruel executioners claim the life of Pedro's young sister, igniting a fire of vengeance in his heart. In these darkest hours, Pedro, his family, Juan, and Catana orchestrate a daring escape. While his parents seek refuge in Italy, Pedro, Juan, and Catana sail to Cuba, finding themselves amidst the ambiance of a new land, teeming with opportunity. Joining Cortez's expedition to Mexico, they become key players in the historic downfall of the Aztec Empire and the dawn of Spanish colonization in the New World. As Pedro gets entangled in a whirlwind of adventures and a passionate romance with Catana, the shadow of his sadistic enemy, de Silva, looms large. Amidst this rich new world, Cortez's ambition shifts from exploration to conquest, setting the stage for an epic saga. With only 500 men at their side, Pedro must face the challenges of this new world, all while keeping a vigilant eye on the deadly threat that forced him to flee his homeland.
