Plot

In a chilling tale of survival and desperation, Alfred Packer, the lone survivor of a pioneer party lost in the heart of the mountains during the harsh winter, is accused and subsequently convicted of a horrific crime—cannibalism. Standing on the precipice of death by hanging, we are introduced to him amidst a courtroom brimming with hostility. Throughout the narrative, Packer pleads his innocence, a plea that falls on deaf ears of all but one - the tenacious reporter, Polly Pry. Through her eyes, we delve into Packer's story, painted in vivid flashbacks. As Packer and his band of gold-seeking adventurers traverse the dense forests and treacherous mountains, they encounter a curious array of characters, from puzzled Japanese Indians to a hardy group of mountain men, each encounter stirring a melody from the depths of their souls. Yet it is the unforgiving Rocky Mountain winter that forms the crux of their journey, a relentless force that drives them to the brink of humanity, urging them to express their struggle in exuberant song and dance. "Cannibal! The Musical" is a harmonious journey through a man's desperate fight against nature and accusations, a tale that lingers long after the last note fades.
