Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011)

In the quaint simplicity of rural Iowa, resides Bucky Larson, a guileless, innocent soul, with the charm of a beaver-toothed grin, under the watchful care of his doting parents, Jeremiah and Debbie Larson. The loss of his humble bagger job at a local supermarket leaves him initially crestfallen, but soon, he perceives it as a cosmic nudge towards a grander design. Gleaning from tidbits of information, Bucky stumbles upon his destiny - to illuminate the world of adult film, notwithstanding his virginal status and recent introduction to the facts of life. With his parents' encouragement, Bucky ventures on a bus journey to Los Angeles, the city of dreams, to climb the ladder of the adult film industry. In LA, he becomes the unlikely protégé of some unconventional mentors. On one end of the spectrum, he encounters the reigning titan of the adult industry, Dick Shadow, who dismisses Bucky as nothing more than a comic spectacle. On the other end, he meets Miles Deep, a faded director from the porn world, who perceives in Bucky an untapped potential for a unique niche market. The challenge for Miles is to persuade skeptical investors who see Bucky as the pariah of their industry. In his personal life, Bucky crosses paths with Kathy McGee, a young diner waitress, who becomes his guide in navigating the labyrinth of big city life. She aids him in securing a roof over his head, albeit shared with Gary, an oaf with an unhealthy interest in Kathy. While Bucky navigates his peculiar career path, Kathy grapples with her own ghosts, hindering her from reaching her potential. Bucky, in his simple-minded approach to life, hopes to be the beacon that helps her overcome her obstacles.
