Plot

In the bustling underworld of 1930 Marseilles, two small-time hoods, Roch Sifreddi and François Capella, meet in a heated brawl over Lola, a captivating street siren. Sifreddi, fresh out of a four-month prison stint, is methodical and calculating. Capella, on the other hand, is brusque and emotional, especially when it comes to women, his Achilles heel. Despite their clashing personalities and initial antagonism, they unite in a partnership as intriguing as the city itself. Finding their niche in the shadowy world of fixed gambling, they manipulate the outcomes of boxing matches and horse races through a network of carefully-placed bribes, earning a reputation that attracts the attention of the city's most powerful crime bosses, Poli and Marello. With their illicit activities gaining momentum and their renown growing, Sifreddi eyes a more ambitious ascent in the Marseilles crime hierarchy, a plan Capella initially resists. As they tread the treacherous path to power, they must navigate the delicate equilibrium between Poli and Marello, who rule the city's crime landscape without encroaching on each other's territories. Their audacious plans are cautioned against by Maître Rinaldi, a high-powered lawyer with political ambitions, who advises them against upsetting the balance, while concurrently lending legitimacy to Poli and Marello's operations. However, as Sifreddi and Capella strive to carve a niche for themselves in the crime world, their partnership is tested by their fundamental differences. Their contrasting approaches to crime and life threaten to turn allies into adversaries. Amid external threats and internal discord, the duo's journey to the top is fraught with danger, deceit, and the tantalizing allure of power. Will their partnership survive the strain, or will their differences ultimately turn them against each other? Their tale is a riveting exploration of ambition, friendship, and the blurred lines between right and wrong.
