Born to the Saddle (1953)

In the turbulent heart of the Wild West, a young man named Bill Walton, fueled by the fiery vengeance for his father's demise and the theft of their estate, arrives in a desolate town. Seeking his uncle's aid, he unwittingly intercepts a bullet intended for the notorious gambler, Matt Daggett. Across the street, his uncle lies lifeless, a casualty of Daggett's ruthless hand. Intriguingly, Daggett, regarding Bill as a good luck charm, nurses him back to health and tasks him with training "Blue Chip," the west's swiftest quarter horse, for an upcoming grand race. Unbeknownst to Bill, Daggett plots to rig the race, betting heavily on a different horse. Residing at John Grant's neighboring ranch, Bill encounters Jerri Marshall, the daughter of Bob Marshall, who was swindled out of "Blue Chip" by Daggett's crooked gambling. An unfortunate entanglement in a stagecoach robbery and murder forces Grant to return to the ranch with Daggett's thug, Red Roper. When Roper attempts to assault a woman, Bill outwits him with a bluff, leading him back to town under the guise of an empty firearm. Roper's subsequent arrest incriminates Grant. A mob, stirred up by Daggett who fears exposure, storms the jail resulting in a double hanging. Grant, teetering on the precipice of death, is discovered by Bill and cut down just in time. On the race day, Daggett manages to distract Bill from "Blue Chip," long enough to injure the horse. Despite the excruciating pain, "Blue Chip" wins. In an attempt to cover up his betrayal, Daggett prepares to shoot the lame horse, leading to a confrontation with Marshall, who ends up shot. This exposes Daggett's treachery to Bill, revealing him as the villain behind his father's death and Grant's hanging. Fueled by anger and the thirst for justice, Bill confronts Daggett in the saloon. As the gambler raises his weapon to fire, Grant reappears. In the ensuing chaos, both Daggett and Grant meet their end, leaving Bill amidst the smoke and dust of the Wild West, a town forever changed by the echoes of vengeance and redemption.
