Plot

In the year 1938, Stan finds himself lost in time, faithfully guarding his World War I trench in France, oblivious to the fact that the war ended two decades ago. His routine is disrupted when he mistakenly shoots down a French aviator, landing his picture in the local paper. Upon seeing his old friend's photograph, Oliver, filled with a blend of nostalgia and concern, pays Stan a visit at the Soldier's Home. Mistaking Stan's odd sitting posture for a disability, Oliver's heart swells with pity. Driven by compassion and camaraderie, he invites Stan to his home, envisioning a warm reunion over a hearty home-cooked meal. However, Oliver's wife has a different take on the situation, leaving her husband and his old war buddy to their own devices. As they navigate the labyrinth of modern conveniences, the duo's domestic endeavors culminate in a chaotic kitchen explosion, their camaraderie tested in the face of disaster. Help comes in the unlikely form of Mrs. Gilbert, their charming next-door neighbor. However, the unexpected return of her big-game hunting husband, Mr. Gilbert, shotgun in hand, adds an unpredictable twist to their tale. In "Block-Heads" (1938), Stan and Oliver's post-war reunion becomes a hilarious journey of discovery and mischief, blending the harsh realities of war with the absurdities of domestic life. It's a heartwarming tale of friendship, resilience, and the timeless humor of life's incongruities.
