Plot

In the murky depths of a seemingly tranquil suburb, the ominous specter of a teenage boy's disappearance hangs heavy. Black Tide (2018) unravels the story of a seasoned Police Commissioner, Francois Visconti, who finds himself entangled in the mystery of Dany Arnaud's vanishing. A boy of the same age as his own son, Dany's disappearance strikes a peculiar chord with Visconti, who is grappling with his own demons of alcoholism and a strained father-son relationship. As Visconti delves deeper into the investigation, the façade of normality surrounding Dany's family starts to crumble. The mother, an elegant yet flirtatious woman, appears uncharacteristically detached for a grieving parent. On the other hand, the father, a reticent and rugged man, seems to be shrouded in an aura of gloom and secrecy. Visconti can't help but wonder if the unusual dynamics of this family might have triggered Dany's disappearance. As he fights against the tide of his personal problems, Visconti crosses paths with Dany's teacher, a man who lives in the same building and is surprisingly keen to assist in the investigation. This uncanny interest raises more questions than answers, adding another layer of complexity to the already convoluted puzzle. Black Tide is a riveting exploration of familial tensions, personal struggles, and unexpected alliances set against the backdrop of an unsolved mystery. As Visconti navigates this labyrinth of deception and secrecy, he is forced to confront the disturbing reality that the truth may be far murkier than the black tide he's wading through.
