Plot

In the pulsating realms of virtual reality, champion gamer Max Troy finds himself embroiled in a thrilling and terrifying nexus of fiction and reality. While navigating the adrenaline-fueled landscapes of the latest first-person shooter from global gaming titan, Sentinel, Troy stumbles upon a chilling discovery; the game's cataclysmic events are eerily mirrored in the real world. The game's protagonist, Orson Creed, is not just a digital avatar but a flesh and blood ex-Sentinel employee, ensnared in the corporation's sinister machinations. Unknowingly, Creed is being puppeteered in the real world against his will, his actions dictated by the heart-pounding sequences unfolding in the gamers' screens. As the boundary between the virtual and real world blurs, Troy and Creed are thrust into an uneasy alliance. The pair must unravel the seething conspiracy that lurks beneath the game's explosive battles and labyrinthine quests before the sinister plot engulfs their city, turning it into a dystopian battlefield. "Beta Test" is a cinematic experience that weaves together live-action footage and animated video game sequences, showcasing a record-breaking six-minute long take fight sequence. The film, featuring Arrow and Spartacus star Manu Bennett, took weeks to rehearse and delivers an immersive spectacle of Bennett battling a swarm of mercenaries to rescue his wife. Simultaneously a nostalgic homage to the action-packed blockbusters of the 80s and 90s and a poignant commentary on 21st-century gun violence and video game culture, "Beta Test" invites viewers to test the boundaries of their perception and immerse themselves in a thrilling story where nothing is as it seems.
