Plot

In the twilight of the 19th century in rural France, the bewitching beauty, Jeanne, a humble peasant girl, is both blessed and cursed by her extraordinary allure. Her heart belongs to the handsome villager, Jean, and their innocent love story is marred by the village's villainous feudal lord. On their wedding night, he invokes the archaic and cruel "Droit du Seigneur" or the "Right of the First Night", setting in motion a chain of events that shatters their lives. Plunged into a realm of tormenting hallucinations, Jeanne, driven by desperation and a thirst for retribution, strikes a Faustian pact with the Prince of Darkness. This unholy alliance bestows upon her magical abilities that are as intoxicating as they are destructive, transforming her into a formidable vessel of seduction and retribution. As she becomes entwined with the blackest of witchcraft, Jeanne's thirst for power escalates, blurring the line between justice and vengeance. Banished from her village and armed with her newly acquired powers, Jeanne embarks on a quest for revenge against those who have wronged her. As her hatred swells, the question arises - is there a threshold to Jeanne's wrath, or will her vengeance consume everything in its path? The tale of 'Belladonna of Sadness' weaves a mesmerizing narrative of love, betrayal, and the perilous journey of a woman scorned, captivating the viewer in its hauntingly beautiful tragedy.
