Plot

Freshly wedded and brimming with optimism, Paul and Corie Bratter embark on their new life together in the bustling heart of New York City. Paul, an ambitious rookie lawyer, embodies the essence of a traditionalist, while his wife Corie, a spirited free-thinker, revels in her spontaneous and often illogical adventures, such as a barefoot stroll through a frosty Washington Square Park. Their honeymoon, spent within the grandeur of the Plaza Hotel, allowed them a sweet taste of marital bliss. However, the real test of their union lies within the confines of their first shared home— a quaint, somewhat dilapidated top-floor apartment in a five-story walk-up. Corie revels in the charm of their new nest, bounding up the stairs with a spring in her step, while Paul, always left breathless, grapples with the daunting reality of their six-flight ascent. The peculiarities of their new home extend beyond its structure, with an eccentric ensemble of neighbors adding to the mix. The most notable among them is Victor Velasco, an unconventional elder residing in the quirky attic of their building, who fancies himself a charming rogue. Concerned for her single, strait-laced mother, Ethel Banks, Corie devises a matchmaking scheme with Victor at its heart. Unbeknownst to the young couple, Ethel and Victor's unlikely pairing mirrors the unconventional dynamic of their own relationship. The unfolding relationship between Ethel and Victor might just hold the key to the future of Corie and Paul's marital journey, as they navigate the unpredictable path of love and companionship under the bright city lights of New York.
