In the harmonious rhythm of life, teenager Will Burton masterfully conducts an orchestra of dreams within the symphony of his mind, a realm brimming with the artistry of music. Shifting to New Jersey due to his mother's new job, Will, a perennial outsider, commences his junior year in a new school where the familiar cliques thrive, yet the pulsating beat of rock-n-roll proudly presides. Despite his misfit status, he finds an unlikely kindred spirit in the enigmatic Sa5m (pronounced "Sam", the 5 is silent), another musical maverick. Their tranquil alliance is unexpectedly punctuated by the charismatic "it" girl, Charlotte, who handpicks Will to help orchestrate a band fit to compete in "Bandslam", a high-school battle of the bands contest that rivals Texas High School Football in its magnitude.
