Plot

In the heart of neighbourhood camaraderie, Dougie Waters finds his joy in the simple pleasures of weekend barbecues and friendly cricket matches. Life, however, tosses a googly when his best friend and neighbour Norm is compelled to leave town, replaced by their new boss - Edward Lords, a haughty Englishman with a penchant for pomp. Dougie's idyllic world crumbles as tension escalates between the two during a local cricket match, culminating in a ball from Dougie inadvertently knocking out Edward's award-winning cat, Dexter, straight into the flaming barbecue, reducing it to nothing but ashes. The spectacle is inadvertently captured on camera by Dougie's son and is quickly catapulted into internet fame as the video spreads like wildfire on YouTube. From the ashes of the unfortunate event, a unique backyard cricket challenge is conceived, the winner of which would claim the poignant remains of Dexter. A high-stakes game ensues, studded with humour, drama, and the spirit of competition. This isn't just a game - it's the grandest spectacle of backyard cricket the neighborhood has ever seen. They're not just playing for victory, but for the "Backyard Ashes."
