Set against the vibrant, relentless pulse of 1990 New York City, tick, tick... BOOM! follows Jon (portrayed by Andrew Garfield), a youthful composer waiting tables in a city diner, while fervently penning what he believes could be the next groundbreaking American musical. As the countdown to his critical make-or-break performance dwindles, Jon is caught in a storm of pressures. His girlfriend, Susan, longs for an artistic life beyond the city's concrete walls; his friend Michael, has discarded his dreams for a more financially stable existence; all the while, their creative community is under siege by the devastating AIDS epidemic.
