Babai (2015)

In the oppressive shadows of 1990s Kosovo, a young boy, Nori, and his father, Gezim, carve out a meager existence, peddling cigarettes on the fear-laden streets. Abandoned by his mother and living under the tyrannical rule of a traditional patriarch, their lives are far from serene. When Gezim plans to abandon this life and flee to Germany alone, his ten-year-old son's unwavering determination to keep his family intact leads to a tragic accident. Despite this, Gezim leaves, a decision that catapults Nori onto a perilous journey. Hurt but undeterred, Nori becomes a beacon of resilience and grit. He navigates the treacherous underbelly of adulthood, stealing and outsmarting those who seek to exploit him, all to reach the father who deserted him. His journey, fraught with danger and desperation, leads him across borders and into the heart of Germany where he confronts Gezim, his estranged father.
