Arang (2006)

In the shadow of a coastal salt storehouse, whispers of the supernatural intertwine with the echoes of a gristly murder. An impoverished ex-convict, fresh from penitentiary walls, meets a ghastly end in a dwelling he barely affords. The peculiar case falls into the hands of two detectives: Min, grappling with her recent reinstatement after a suspension, and Lee, a fresh recruit from the forensic department. Min, tormented by nightmares of a harrowing sexual assault, forms an unexpected synergy with Lee. Their partnership, however, is put to the test as two more deaths shroud the town - both victims mysteriously poisoned, and both linked to the ill-fated ex-convict. The shadow of suspicion looms over a fourth friend, a newlywed doctor. Yet, the threads of this enigmatic case seem to weave back to the salt storehouse, a decade-old death, and a girl who vanished without a trace. As Min and Lee delve deeper, they must confront a daunting question: is the veil of the supernatural too thick for a cop's discernment? In a race against time, they must unravel the truth, or risk being consumed by the mysteries that lie beneath the surface.
