Plot

In the heart of Queens, Billie Golden, a vivacious Cabaret singer with dreams as bold as her personality, graces a small club with her voice. Embracing her life as if she's the starlet of a technicolor classic, she dons Audrey Hepburn-inspired attire, much to the chagrin of her disillusioned, alcoholic mother. Billie's world spins around her singing ambitions, the club she works in, and its owner, Sal, whose advances she continuously spurns. Two men enter Billie's life, each holding a mirror to her aspirations or heartache. Greg, a wealthy stockbroker and a school-time friend, re-enters her life, enticing her with a glimpse into the opulent world of the upper class. However, his aristocratic acquaintances view their relationship with thinly-veiled disdain, seeing Billie as nothing more than a trophy wife. Then there's Elliot, a professional pianist and her mentor. Their relationship starts on a discordant note, but as their love story unfolds, they discover a profound understanding of each other. Elliot appreciates Billie's talent and fervor, unlike Greg, who's blinded by his desire for an ornamental wife. Billie must navigate these complicated relationships while balancing her dreams and the lure of Greg's high-society life. She grapples with the realization that Elliot, not Greg, truly resonates with her. Amidst this emotional whirlwind, her eccentric sister Laney and best friend T.J. are entangled in their own romantic quandaries. Guided by the sage advice of the legendary singer Eartha Kitt, Billie pursues the rhythm of her musical heart, hoping to make her dreams a reality. This is the story of a woman's journey to understand love, accept herself, and follow her artistic ambitions.
