Anina (2015)

In the heart of a vibrant world lives Anina Yatay Salas, a ten-year-old girl caught in a battle with her own palindrome name - an enigma that reads identically forwards and backwards. Her playground is rife with teasers, chief among them Yisel, who Anina imagines as an imposing "elephant". A day of heated confrontation spirals out of control, resulting in a peculiar penalty from the school principal. Anina and Yisel become the reluctant bearers of mysterious black envelopes, sealed and forbidden to be opened for seven long days. Plagued by terrifying dreams and tantalizing day-images, Anina finds herself embroiled in an unexpected odyssey. Her craving to unravel the ominous secret hidden in the envelope propels her into a whirlwind of adventures. This journey is speckled with blossoming romances, steadfast friendships, and formidable foes, all coalescing into a kaleidoscope of experiences. Oblivious to her own transformation, Anina's quest to decipher the envelope's content evolves into a journey of self-discovery. As she grapples with the world around her, she also begins to understand her unique place within it. She discovers that the real adventure lies not in the mystery of the black envelope, but in the unfolding riddle of her life.
