In the heartland of rural Iowa, on his ancestral farm, young Jack Gudmanson grapples with the complexities of his sexual identity, a struggle made tougher amidst the virile backdrop of the Midwest. His world is catapulted into clarity when he stumbles upon a time-weathered lunch box brimming with gay magazines, revealing a hidden facet of his late father's life, who was claimed by the Vietnam war. This revelation, while liberating for Jack, unearths old wounds for his mother and grandfather, who had painstakingly buried this secret deep within the family history.
