Plot

In the chilling year of 1989, four men embark on a daring voyage from Picton, New Zealand, journeying towards the mystic shores of Tonga. Their vessel, the majestic trimaran Rose Noelle, serves as their home on the turbulent Pacific. However, a tempestuous storm engulfs them, and in a swift, merciless moment, a monstrous wave capsizes the yacht. The men find themselves trapped within the confines of a space no larger than a double bed, as their sanctuary fills with icy water. As the Rose Noelle becomes a floating tomb, adrift in the wintery Pacific, the men battle not only the elements but also their own inner demons. Personality clashes threaten to shatter their unity, making their survival a precarious game of will and patience. For 119 days, they drift, tossed around by the ruthless sea, their hope diminishing with each passing sunrise. Miraculously, their odyssey ends as the Rose Noelle washes ashore on the rugged coastline of New Zealand's Great Barrier Island. Their saga of survival instantly catches the world's attention, their faces splashed across headlines. Yet, their miraculous escape from death's jaws casts shadows of doubt, leading to skepticism and hostility from the media and authorities. In the face of adversity, the men must not only prove their survival but also defend their harrowing tale against a storm of disbelief. The movie 'Abandoned' unveils this riveting true story, a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the relentless will to survive.
