Plot

In the pulsating heart of Mumbai, Aashayein unravels the tale of Rahul Sharma, a gambler whose fortunes take a dramatic turn when he wins an astronomical sum betting on Zimbabwe's cricket team. On a tidal wave of success, Rahul plans to propose to his beloved Nafisa and open a lavish resort. However, his world shatters into a million pieces when he's diagnosed with lung cancer, a bitter consequence of his smoking habits, and given a grim prognosis of three months to live. In a whirlwind of despair, Rahul abruptly leaves Nafisa behind and seeks refuge in a nursing home, immersing himself in a tapestry of lives that, like his, are precariously balanced on the precipice of mortality. Among the colorful palette of patients he encounters are Madhu, a fallen woman; G. Parathasarathi, a former banker; Padma, a 17-year-old girl nurturing a crush on him; and Govinda, a child blessed with divine powers. As Rahul delves into their lives, he undertakes the poignant mission of fulfilling their final wishes. A special bond blossoms between him and Padma, their companionship a source of comfort as they confide in each other about their deepest desires. Yet, nothing prepares Rahul for the day when the sands of Padma's life begin to run out, and he is faced with the heart-wrenching task of granting her final wish. Aashayein is a mesmerizing exploration of life, love, and loss, where hopes and dreams persist even in the face of impending darkness.
