Aadupuliyattam (2016)

Six centuries ago, King Udayapandyan presided over vast territories in Tamil Nadu. His heart was stolen by the enigmatic huntress, Mathangi (Ramya Krishnan). Their love story unfolded in a secluded bungalow nestled in the vibrant wilderness, a sanctuary built by the king for his beloved. However, the tides of time turned cruel when Udayapandyan faced a crushing defeat in battle. He sought refuge in Mathangi's forest dwelling, and in a testament of her deep love, she pledged to protect him at all costs. In a desperate act of devotion, Mathangi offered herself to the powerful deity Bhadrakali, a sacrifice to shield King Udayapandyan from the jaws of death. Her spirit, however, refused to depart, lingering in the mortal world. In response, a seasoned yogi (Om Puri) weaved an intricate tapestry of rituals aimed to harness Mathangi's restless spirit. As the centuries passed, echoes of this ancient legend seeped into the present, casting an ominous shadow over the life of the affluent businessman, Satyajith (Jayaram). Known for his content family life, Satyajith finds himself entangled in the ghostly threads of the past, the haunting myth of Mathangi threatening to unravel his peaceful existence.
