Chloe Turner, an ambitious Ph.D. candidate specializing in Marine Mammalogy at Miami Central College, finds herself on a thrilling one-week research journey in the captivating landscapes of Washington State. Her focus: the enigmatic and endangered Southern Resident Orca population in the Salish Sea. This adventure presents an opportune time for Chloe to reconsider her relationship with Marcus, her Economics scholar boyfriend, as their wavelengths often seem misaligned. Caught in the unfamiliar territory of Cable Cove, WA, Chloe is a tropical fish plunged into the chilly waters of the Pacific Northwest, unversed in the study of Orcas and unaccustomed to hands-on field research. Determined to prove her independence, she hesitates to reach out to Ben Winters, a charismatic marine tour guide and the undisputed Orca expert in Cable Cove. However, as the search for Echo, the smallest of the three elusive Orca pods, becomes vital for the progress of her research, Chloe must swallow her pride. She eventually seeks Ben's assistance, igniting a spark between them that transcends their shared passion for Orcas. As they grapple with their growing feelings and the respect for Chloe's relationship with Marcus, they also face the looming threat of Chloe's research project becoming incomplete, which could jeopardize her potential to continue her dissertation in Cable Cove.
