Plot

In a universe of longing and solitude, an innocent young post office worker, Tomek, finds himself captivated by the enigmatic Magda, a seemingly promiscuous artist living in the opposite tower block. Driven by his obsession, Tomek peers into her world through the lens of a telescope, immersing himself in her allure and the parade of men that frequently grace her apartment. Magda, a woman in her mid-thirties, appears to have it all yet remains a mystery to her silent admirer. When Tomek can no longer keep his feelings contained, he boldly declares his love, opening the door to a world he's only ever observed from afar. Magda, intrigued by his innocence, offers him a stark revelation: love is an illusion, and only sex is real. This brutal truth shatters Tomek, driving him to the brink of despair and a failed suicide attempt. Upon his return from the hospital, however, the tables turn. The once distant and enigmatic Magda now finds herself drawn towards the fragile Tomek, her curiosity piqued by his vulnerability. The dynamic between them shifts, and Magda becomes ensnared in her own web of obsession. 'A Short Film About Love' explores the complex layers of human connection, loneliness, and the often blurred line between love and obsession. This intimate tale unravels the surprising commonalities that surface when two seemingly disparate lives intersect, challenging their preconceived notions and ultimately, changing their lives forever.
