A Room with a View (2007)

In the heart of the Edwardian era, the Honeychurch family - consisting of Marian Honeychurch and her young adult children, Lucy and Freddy – reside in the idyllic country town of Summer Street, Surrey. With their carefree spirits, they enjoy a simple life, though Lucy, a sophisticated young woman, is often perceived as someone with a storm of passion beneath her composed exterior, hinted at by her intense Beethoven performances on the piano. Under the watchful eye of her slyly officious older cousin and chaperone, Charlotte Bartlett, Lucy embarks on a journey to Florence, Italy. They stay at Pensione Bertolini, a favourite amongst their fellow Brits. Among the eclectic mix of British tourists, they encounter the Emersons, a father-son duo. The forthright Mr. Emerson is deemed vulgar by Charlotte, while his son, George, is an introspective yet radiant young man. As the Italian sojourn progresses, George finds the vibrant Italian life to be an awakening experience, and he believes Lucy is undergoing a similar revelation. However, an unexpected incident, deemed inappropriate by Charlotte and Lucy, prompts them to cut their Italian getaway short and return to England. Back home, Lucy finds herself betrothed to the affluent yet devoid-of-passion Cecil Vyse. Coincidentally, Mr. Emerson relocates to Summer Street, and George starts visiting the Honeychurch home over weekends. As George forms a bond with the Honeychurches, Lucy finds herself entangled in a web of her own lies, particularly about her true desires and the person she yearns for in her life.
