A Prophet (2009)

Malik El Djebena is only 19-years old, but he's about to begin serving a six year prison sentence. But Malik is not new to the system. He's spent most of his adolescence in juvenile detention, and the Franco-Algerian teen is illiterate and largely uneducated. But being thrown into prison is a whole new level of danger. The inmate community is harshly segregated between Corsican and Muslim gangs, and Malik finds himself caught in the middle of the fighting. But it also provides opportunities for Malik both to educate himself and to climb up the ladder of criminal repute in Brecourt.
