In the heart of a festive Christmas party, a shocking discovery disrupts the cheerful atmosphere - the lifeless body of Alistair McGowan, a wealthy entrepreneur celebrated for his seasonal generosity. As the police delve into the twisted tangle of the investigation, they soon uncover that McGowan's philanthropy was more of a charade. His grand Christmas gifts for children, now mysteriously vanished, were traditionally funded by cutting his employees' salaries, an act that brewed a bitter resentment amongst his workforce.
The accusing finger of Mrs. McGowan points towards Cyrus Lynch, her husband's business nemesis, who has conveniently disappeared. Amid the unraveling mystery, the police stumble upon some of the stolen gifts and a peculiar old man, donning a lengthy white beard, who introduces himself as Kris Kringle.
Whispers of the Krampus, a fabled Christmas monster, begin to circulate, suggesting its sinister presence in the nearby woods. However, as Murdoch delves deeper into the murder of the seemingly benevolent benefactor and the theft at the Christmas charity pageant, he finds that the chilling truth lurks much closer to home than anyone could have anticipated. The holiday season's joyous facade gradually peels away, revealing a tale steeped in deceit, resentment, and a murder most foul.
