Plot

In the sultry, simmering heat of the Florida coastline, the scorching sun isn't the only thing raising temperatures. Amidst this oppressive heatwave, we meet Ned Racine, a somewhat hapless yet insatiable lawyer in the quaint town of Miranda Beach. Ned runs a small law firm and indulges his voracious appetite for women, his eyes constantly prowling for potential liaisons. His attention becomes laser-focused on the stunning Matty Walker, a vision of wealth and allure that proves irresistible. Despite her marital ties to Edmund Walker, a wealthy businessman whose presence in their upscale Pinehaven home is sporadic at best, Matty's flirtatious interactions with the brazen Ned ignite an electric spark. Defying her initial resistance, the two are soon entwined in a clandestine and fiery affair, one that Matty insists must remain hidden from their world, a departure from Ned's usual indiscretions. As passion evolves into a pronouncement of love, a dangerous seed of greed takes root. Matty and Ned find themselves yearning not just for each other, but also for the opulent life funded by Edmund's fortune. Hindered by a prenuptial agreement that leaves Matty penniless in the event of divorce, the illicit lovers devise a perilous plan to murder Edmund. However, their scheme is fraught with unexpected impediments, including Matty's secretive last-minute modifications that leave Ned off-balance. Meanwhile, Ned's friends, public attorney Peter Lowenstein and police detective Oscar Grace, offer advice that falls on deaf ears as Ned becomes increasingly entrenched in the perilous situation he's helped to create. The net tightens around Ned and Matty, forcing them to confront the dangerous game they've initiated. As the stakes rise, they must grapple with the harsh reality that their deadly plot may have spiralled out of control, trapping them both in a web of deceit, desire, and dire consequences.
